Institutional Approach

The University of Bordeaux operates its campus as open experiment for enviornmental, social and economic transition challenges. The ‘ACT’ project – Augmented university for Campus and world Transition tests, among others, sustainable urban campus concepts underpinned by interdisciplinary research and education. 18 projects have been financed thus-far via ACT’s funding scheme, including biodiversity augmentation, a mobile library on the theme of sustainable transitions and the roll-out of a zero waste strategy. The University of Bordeaux has a strong internationalization research policy; together with the CNRS, Inserm, and INRAE research bodies, they operate programmes such as the International Laboratories scheme, which are structured international collaborations with at least one other team from a foreign institution to research a jointly defined scientific project.
